| We evaluate your home from the outside in, checking all areas from the basement to the roof for efficiency and safety. Your house is a system, everything is connected. The relationship between all the systems in the house is key to their overall performance of your home. BPI accredited contractors including BK Solutions LLC focus on the "house-as-a-system concept". Such a holistic approach allows BK Solutions LLC to analyze all important factors, not just limiting our evaluation to the services we offer. An assessment takes approximately 10 hours to complete. 3-4 hours at your home and 6-7 hours at our office to properly model your home using specialized software and generating a report. Assessments can be conducted all year long. |

| Air Sealing and Insulation |
Sealing the envelope, or shell of your home—its outer walls, ceiling, windows, doors and floors—is the most cost-effective way to improve energy efficiency and comfort. Hot or cold air can easily bypass insulation, or just blow through it. Air barriers are key and need to be aligned with the insulation.
Insulation is the second best way to improve the energy efficiency of your home. Selection of the best method and product is not trivial. Insulating your house keeps heat in during the winter and prevents the heat from entering your home in the summer, improving comfort and saving energy all year long.

| Heating/Cooling and Solar Systems |
BK Solutions LLC will help you identify issues with your current heating/cooling system. We measure combustion efficiency of your system and carbon monoxide levels to pinpoint possible problem areas. Solar systems make sense for some "privileged homes" in our region. That privilege depends on the orientation of your home towards the sun and obstructions nearby. Innovative Financing is available to pay for most of these improvements. Your energy savings pay for the system. Solar systems require permits, panning ahead is key.

Budget / Financing
The cost of air sealing and insulating a house can range from $4000 to
$40000. All depends on actual conditions. Like size, existing insulation
values, accessibility, design and look. High efficiency heating / cooling and solar systems are in the $8,000-$50,000 range. Cost and available funds can keep such potential savings out of reach. New financing solutions provided by NYSERDA use the savings on your energy bills to pay for your energy efficiency improvements - without stretching your budget or receiving an additional bill. Starting Feburary 2012, loans ($3,000-$25,000) are available at at 2.99% to save energy in your home.
